The practice of gratitude is a is well known tool for happiness. Long-term studies support gratitude’s effectiveness, suggesting that a positive, appreciative attitude contributes to greater success. You will experience more productivity at work, greater health, peak performance in sports and business, and a higher sense of well-being. This contributes to other very practical benefits such as a faster rate of recovery from surgery.
But while we may acknowledge gratitude’s many benefits, it still can be difficult to sustain. So many of us are trained to notice what is broken, undone or lacking in our lives. This is a habit that can be changed with consciousness exercises and a daily participation in mindfulness techniques like Continuum Movement, intuitive drawing and Intentional meditation.
Practicing gratitude makes so much sense. Remember that gratitude isn’t a blindly optimistic approach in which the bad things in life are whitewashed or ignored. It’s more a matter of where we put our focus and attention.
This month’s Tuesday Tune-Up cultivates practicing gratitude by exploring our sensual nature. When we revel in the sensations of being in our animal body self, we automatically enter a present moment state of awareness. You will have to listen to the podcast to learn about the animal body self, and how this relates to Practicing Gratitude.
Fear dissipates, tension dissolves, stress evaporates and a deep sense of well-being emerges.
Let your animal body appreciate the wonders of nature and your human self will respond with gratitude and joy.
